Mexico's legislative arena bore witness to an unprecedented event, as lawmakers embarked on their nation's inaugural congressional hearing dedicated to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), commonly recognized as UFOs. This groundbreaking session, denoted as FANI (the Spanish acronym for UAP), brought forth riveting testimonies that challenged the conventional belief in humanity's solitary existence in the universe.
Held on a significant Tuesday, this historic hearing featured the momentous unveiling by prominent Mexican journalist and dedicated UFO enthusiast, Jaime Maussan. He asserted the startling claim that he possessed the preserved remains of extraterrestrial beings, emphasizing their utter dissimilarity to any known terrestrial life forms.
These enigmatic "bodies," meticulously presented within secure encasements, bore remarkable features, including elongated heads and three-fingered hands. Maussan contended that these specimens had been unearthed in 2017 near the ancient Nazca Lines in Peru, dating back approximately 1,000 years—an assertion substantiated by carbon dating conducted by Mexico's esteemed National Autonomous University (UNAM).
Nonetheless, it is important to acknowledge that previous instances of similar discoveries have ultimately revealed themselves to be the remains of mummified children, rather than extraterrestrial entities. Nevertheless, Maussan underscored that this presentation represented an unprecedented disclosure of such evidence.
Jaime Maussan expressed his belief, stating, "I firmly believe that substantial evidence suggests that we are dealing with non-human specimens entirely unrelated to any known species on Earth, thereby leaving the door wide open for any scientific institution to comprehensively investigate this tantalizing matter."
"We are not alone," he ardently proclaimed.
Further insight into the investigation was provided by Jose de Jesus Zalce Benitez, Director of the Scientific Institute for Health of the Mexican navy, who disclosed that the remains had undergone rigorous scrutiny, including X-rays, three-dimensional reconstructions, and meticulous DNA analyses. "I can affirm that these bodies have no relation to human beings," he asserted.
However, it's crucial to note that UNAM reiterated its stance, initially expressed in 2017, which clarified that their National Laboratory of Mass Spectrometry with Accelerators (LEMA) had solely aimed to determine the age of the samples, refraining from drawing any conclusions regarding the origin of said samples.
The hearing also featured former U.S. Navy pilot Ryan Graves, who has participated in U.S. Congressional hearings, sharing his personal experiences with UAP and discussing the stigma surrounding reporting such sightings.
Congressman Sergio Gutierrez, a member of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's ruling Morena party, expressed his hope that this hearing would be the first of many similar events in Mexico. "We are left with reflections, with concerns, and with the path to continue talking about this," Gutierrez said.
The United States government has experienced a significant shift in its approach to disclosing information about UAP, after decades of evading and deflecting the issue. The Pentagon has actively investigated reported sightings by military aviators in recent years, while NASA, the space agency, established an independent panel to study UFOs—an unprecedented move.
In parallel, NASA is scheduled to share findings from its UFO study on Thursday.
In the wake of the hearing, Jaime Maussan encountered swift backlash and criticism from skeptics, who raised questions about the authenticity of his presentation. One user on the X social media platform (formerly known as Twitter) voiced concerns, saying, "This could really hurt efforts to take the issue seriously. Why didn't they wait until a scientific paper was ready to publish it?"
The hearing undeniably stirred fervent discussions and intrigue, signaling the growing interest and evolving perspectives on the subject of UFOs in Mexico and beyond.
